US Award Murcutt Alumni

The Outward Bound Cabins, Leadville, Colorado designed and built by 56 students from University of Colorado Denver, has just been announced as a recipient of the 2017 American Institute of Architects Small Projects Award. The design and build studio was led Rick Sommerfeld (Murcutt Master Class 09), with Scott Lawrence (NZ Master Class 08 and Murcutt Master Class 10) and Andy Paddock (who attended 2015 US Master Class with Peter Stutchbury, Richard Leplastrier and Rick Joy). 'To Keep it we must Give It Away' - as Uncle Max Dulumunmun has said - these teachers keeping what was learned about 'touching the earth lightly' by sharing it with the students who designed and built this project over two years.
