National Gallery of Victoria : Melbourne

Drawing speakers from Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America and Australia, Diversity + Community is a unique opportunity to join with ground-breaking architects to explore some of the less-charted terrains of architectural practice and to consider the role of architecture as a positive force in uncertain times.

Níall McLoughlin, from Ireland and UK, who has just been awarded the 2016 RIBA Charles Jencks Award for ‘

an architect who has recently made a major contribution internationally to both the theory and practice of architecture’.

Ten other speakers will present a diverse selection of engaging projects from around the world –

Per Arnold Andersen, member of the editorial ‘troika’ of the provocative journal D/A in Denmark;

Mphethi Morojele, principal of MMA Studio, leading indigenous practice in South Africa;

Diego Montero Espina, extensive small practice in Uruguay;

Erik Sommerfeld, Director of the Design and Build program at the University of Colorado;

Mette Lange from Denmark, doing work in Iceland, Iran and moveable schools in India;

Camillo Moraes Zambrano, young practioner involved in emergency housing and projects in wild terrain, from Chile;
