Burrell Museum,
Pollok Country Park, Glasgow, Scotland
1972 Competition winning entry for an Art Gallery and Museum for the Burrell Collection by Barry Gasson, Brit Andresen and John Meunier, completed in 1983. A primary architectural intention was to establish relations between art and nature by orchestrating juxtapositions between artifacts in the collection and the immediate landscape. Primary and secondary circulation routes explore inside outside connections and internal roofed courtyards give focus to the interiors. Large architectural artifacts in the collection, such as stone arches and windows, have been incorporated into the architectural solution.
